Fees and funding

Study fees must be paid at most universities of applied sciences (UAS). Studying at a UAS costs students from EU/EEA countries € 363.63 per semester and an additional € 20.70 in student union fees. Students from third countries will have to pay a minimum of € 762.72. The actual amount of the study fees for nationals from third countries is stipulated by the respective UAS. All fees must always be paid at the beginning of the semester.

Scholarships and educational grants

Unlike abroad, Austrian universities and universities of applied sciences do not usually offer scholarships or educational grants to students. In Austria, separate organizations exist for awarding grants. One of the largest organisations that offers scholarships to foreign students is the OeAD, Austria’s Agency for Education and Internationalisation.

For international students, there are further possibilities for educational support, depending on the country of original and the level of studies. You can find out which ones exist – as well possibilities to for research grants – from the Austrian online scholarship database. Here you will find all the relevant information for the application procedure and which documents you must provide. Please be aware that scholarships can be awarded from various institutions, among them also universities of applied sciences. You should also check in your home country if there are any scholarships for studying in Austria.

Important!

In Austria, scholarships for the entire duration of one’s studies are rare. Grants for students in the Bachelor’s programme are also uncommon.
